Our approach to sustainability is supported by our values of integrity, reliability, safety, teamwork, customer focus and innovation, which reflect the culture at GasLog. Our sustainability principles are described below.
We have the ambition to provide cost efficient, innovative measures to increase ship operational efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint, both ashore and at sea. The preservation of natural resources is our main priority and environmental and energy considerations are included in all the activities we carry out. Limiting our harmful gas and water emissions, and reducing the waste generated by our activities, are part of our environmental stewardship strategy.
Integrity and high standards of governance help us maintain the excellence and reliability of our daily operations. We are socially responsible and ethical, and we promote fair dealing, anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices. We take equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion seriously. We consider sustainability as a way to manage risks and maximize opportunities. The company uses an Enterprise Risk Management System to ensure proper identification and management of potential enterprise risks. Political, economic, social, technological, ethical and legal considerations are included in our decision-making process.
GasLog has an exceptional record of reliability. Excluding events outside of our control, our ‘on-the-water’ fleet has experienced close to 100% uptime every year from 2010 to 2018, supported by online monitoring of key machinery, electronic safety management systems providing live updates, and a risk-based maintenance system.
